How to Post a Bond (if charges from Mason County)

Between 8:00 am and 3:45 pm (Monday - Friday) you must post a bond at the Mason County Circuit Court Clerk’s office. The Clerk’s office is located at 100 West Third Street, Maysville, KY. You may only post a cash bond at the courthouse.

Posting a Cash Bond

To post a bond with cash you must do the following:

1. Go to the Clerk's Office located at 100 West Third Street, Maysville, KY 41056 and post the bond.
2. Bring your receipt to the Mason County Detention Center located at ​702 US HWY 68, Maysville, KY 41056

​Posting a Bond After Hours

To post a bond after Clerk’s Office is closed, during a holiday or on the weekends, please do the following:

1. Go to the Mason County Detention Center
2. Bring a valid ID and the correct amount needed in cash. A $25 fee is added to the bond amount. The Detention Center does not give change.
3. You can call the jail directly to ask for the exact amount you will need to have in cash: 606-564-3621
4. A jail employee will assist you with the paperwork needed for the bond.

Posting a Property Bond​

Property bonds must be posted at the Clerk’s Office. The Mason County Detention Center does not process these bonds at any time.

Special Bonds

The Judge may sign off on a special bond. Inmates may be given a non-monetary bond with conditions. An inmate who has been given this type of bond must be released to a responsible adult. Pre-trial services considers a "responsible adult" to be someone over the age of eighteen with a valid identification who can take responsibility of the inmate.
Pre-trial services may also give an "O.R." bond also known as an "own recognizance" bond. This is also a non-monetary bond. The inmate gives their consent to show up for the next hearing on their case and they are released on their own recognizance.​

Bond Refunds

Bonds posted at the Mason County Detention Center are turned over to the Mason County District Court. Refunds and explanation of fees charged must be obtained from the Mason County District Court.​

Bond Fees​

Fee's paid when posting a bond are different from Booking Fee's owed to the jail. The fees paid with a bond also go to the court house for processing.​​​

Note: The Mason County Clerk’s Office will not process a bond on cases(charges) from other counties. Example, if a person is arrested in Fleming County, lodged in the Mason County Detention Center and it is during business hours (8:00am – 4:00pm) bail money must be posted at the Fleming County courthouse. A receipt indicating the bond has been posted must be brought to the Mason County jail in order from the inmate to be released from custody.
